Fundamentals Basketball Camp was created in 2012 by Jake Mount, when he discovered he loved helping the younger neighborhood kids play his favorite sport, basketball.
He approached his mom and dad, saying that he wanted to start a summer camp for kids. AND, that way he could raise money to honor his best friend, Gage Dole, who had lost his battle with cancer in February 2011 at the age of nine. He decided the money he could make would go to the Children's Cancer Association.
Jake is now on year seven of FBC, and this past year raised anover $4,540 for the CCA to help kids fight cancer.
This has become a passion of his, and a way to remember his buddy, Gage. With help from lots of his neighborhood friends (and honorary coaches!) who knew Gage, this camp has been a way for younger kids to have fun, learn a few basketball skills, and teach Jake the art of blowing a whistle!
Jake is now 17, and is offering two camp sessions for 2018, one morning and one afternoon camp, in the hopes he can keep supporting CCA, an association that really helped Gage when he was in the midst of treatment. You can read more from his story in the Lake Oswego Review.
Thank you all for supporting Jake's efforts. And as he likes to say, "Everyone's got game!"
